Press release

[PARIS, FRANCE] January 5, 2018 - Qarnot announced today that it is a winner of the CES ® Eureka Park Climate Change Innovators Award, a new award that aims at recognizing exhibitors in Eureka Park who are placing bold bets on their technology's ability to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions if widely implemented. Five other companies are also been named winners of this award. By locating companies’ computers in buildings where heat is needed instead of data centres that have to get rid of excess heat, Qarnot reduces the carbon footprint of computations by 75%. In a context of exponential growth of our digital needs, Qarnot technologies have the potential to reduce CO2 emissions by 26 million tons annually. Have a look at our estimation methodology on our dedicated blog post. “Data centres already use 3% of worldwide electricity. It is urgent to start tackling the environmental impact of IT. When Qarnot uses computations wasted heat in buildings, it reduces by more than 75% their carbon footprint. This award is a strong acknowledgement of Qarnot technology’s potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions” says Paul Benoit, CEO of Qarnot computing. Paul Benoit will receive the award during “CES 2018 Sustainability Day” on January, 11, 2018 at 12.45 pm local time on the CTA Stage at Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center (LVCC). He will be joined on stage by Jason Mooneyham, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Worldwide Commercial Sales at AMD, a key technical partner for Qarnot. “Qarnot’s distributed cloud solution greatly benefits from the exceptional power, security and reliability features offered by AMD Ryzen™ PRO processors that help maximize the environmental benefit from their innovative solutions”, commented Jason Mooneyham. “We congratulate Qarnot for this prestigious award and we are very pleased to see AMD technology helping solve environmental challenges" Eureka Park Climate Change Innovators is a new startup recognition program hosted by the Consumer Techology Association (CTA). A CTA-selected committee of GHG and industry experts awarded winners based on the demonstrated and quantified potential of their technology to reduce GHG emissions, identified economic sector(s) of reduction potential; and the credibility of methodology used to estimate reduction potential. Qarnot is exhibitor on Booth #50722, Eureka Park, #FrenchIoT booth
